A Sense of Space

I'm going to Italy in a couple of weeks with my sister Carmen. I've been googling and youtubing and it's pretty amazing that you can find out any information you want that way. But one thing I can't find is what I love the most about Spain and Italy too: The sense of being in a space that at first encloses you on narrow winding dark streets and then suddenly opens into the spaciousness and light of a plaza.
Cordoba, Spain
The sense of not knowing what's ahead because the streets are winding and turning illogically. So unlike NYC. Here's another example, this time inside a small pre-romanesque church in Spain.
Soria, Spain
